Noice Update
November 5, 2024
Every successful content platform was built on the shoulders of Creators.
Skin in the game
From Twitch to TikTok, Creators are the ones who pour their time and effort into making content, nurturing communities, and bringing audiences back day after day. Creators are the fundamental reason why content platforms are fun to be on - without them, these platforms would be empty and lifeless.
But here's the thing that's always confused us: when platforms like Twitch and YouTube sold for eye-watering sums, the Creators who built these platforms didn't see a penny of that value. The very people who were responsible for these platforms achieving the valuations they did walked away with nothing but the earnings they’d made so far to show for it. And for all but the few, that reward didn’t reflect the effort.
We believe it's time for that to change. For the first time ever in livestreaming, we’re going to give our Creators skin in the game and reward them with incentives that properly value their contributions.
Noice Partner Reward Fund
Introducing the Noice Partner Reward Fund for Noice Partners in the UK, EU, and EEA (with other regions coming soon). Through this fund, we’ll reward Noice Partners with Partner Reward Units (PRUs) when they grow their Noice channels and help Noice grow in the process. The fund will consist of 1 Billion Reward Units, each representing the opportunity to earn a future cash payment that reflects the value Creators brought to the platform through their content and communities, if and when the company experiences a cash liquidity event - that’s legal-speak for getting bought or issuing an IPO (Initial Public Offering of stock, aka “going public”).
In that way, just as we’ll share in the success of Partners who help us to grow through their content and communities, so too will Partners share in the success of Noice. It's our way of ensuring the time and effort you put into growing with us is paid back beyond regular earnings.
To make this happen, we've set aside a Partner Reward Fund worth a percentage of the proceeds from a future sale or IPO, and will issue PRUs from the fund to Noice Partners whose daily activities help us grow. How large could that fund be? Let’s say Noice achieves the same valuation that Twitch had when it was bought, back in 2014 after only 3 years of operation – almost $1 Billion. If Noice were sold or valued at that amount at an IPO, after taxes, costs and other obligations (which could be as high as ~49% of the total proceeds), the fund could be worth 30% of the proceeds, or around $150M - all dedicated to recognizing the Creators that helped make it happen. That’s nothing compared to if Noice were sold or valued at IPO at Twitch’s value today. We cannot guarantee that such a sale or IPO would happen, or that it would happen at that value, but it’s what we are working towards.
A streaming revolution
This approach to Creator incentive isn't just unusual in our industry – it's revolutionary. But then again, doing things differently is in our DNA. From day one, we've looked at the standard way of doing things and asked, "But what if we did it better?"
Some might call this approach unconventional. We call it common sense. Because when you really think about it, shouldn't Creators have a real chance to gain from the success of the platforms they help build? Shouldn't every Creator have the same opportunity to thrive?
At Noice, the answer to all these questions is a resounding "yes."
We're not just building another content platform – we're creating a new standard for how platforms and Creators work together. It's about time someone did.
